On May 6th, we will be using a CART system at our meeting. That’s an acronym for Communication Access in Real Time, or Computer Assisted Realtime Transcription, in which all spoken words are displayed on a screen. This makes the meeting accessible to those whose hearing loss is such that the loop system is not adequate.
Specifically, we will be using Remote CART, in which the captioner attends the meeting through an internet connection (actually Skype)
The topic at this meeting, beside the CART system itself, will be the wealth of internet references and support available online. Attendees are invited to suggest sites they find valuable.
Visitors always welcome. At the Jeanes Library in Lafayette Hill, 6 p.m. Monday 5/6.
